Dr. John Heiss


John Heiss Ph.D is the director of Herbalife’s sports and fitness products for worldwide product marketing. Under his expertise, the company launched Herbalife24, the first phase of a new program of high-performance sports products.

Before joining Herbalife, John was the founder of Prolong Energy, an endurance sports nutritional company. He earned a Ph.D. from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in biological chemistry, where he studied how single proteins function within cells. The findings from his research work have been published in several peer-reviewed journals.

As a USA category 2 competitive cyclist, John has a keen understanding of the nutritional needs of endurance athletes. He also has earned several much-sought-after belt buckles at the Leadville 100 mile mountain bike race and set a course record in the 2-person division at the Furnace Creek 508 – a 508 mile non-stop bike race.


Nutrition, Luigi Gratton, M.P.H.

Vice President Nutrition Education

As vice president, nutrition education, Luigi Gratton, M.D. coordinates the strategic management and direction of Herbalife's Nutrition Advisory Board to ensure Distributors have a thorough understanding of products, ingredients and their benefits.

Gratton, a physician specialist in family medicine and clinical physician at the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition in the risk factor obesity program, works closely with Distributor trainers around the world to ensure the dissemination of accurate product information. He also speaks at major Herbalife events, enhancing Distributors' knowledge about Herbalife products.

He has written numerous articles on nutrition and obesity and has appeared on television speaking on nutrition anti-aging medicine, sports nutrition and other medical topics.

Gratton earned an undergraduate degree in science and a masters in public health from University of California, Los Angeles. He was awarded a medical degree from Mount Sinai Medical School of New York University and fulfilled his residency in family medicine at Los Angeles County Hubert Humphrey Family Medicine Center. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical nutrition at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Gratton has been awarded Diplomata of The American Board of Family Practice and The American Board of Physician Nutrition.



Samantha Clayton

Samantha Clayton is a former world-class sprinter from the United Kingdom. As a natural athlete, Samantha first excelled in field hockey, netball and soccer. Scouted as a teenager, she made her British Track and Field team debut in 1998 at the European Junior Athletic Championships and took home a silver medal as part of the 4 x 100 meter woman’s relay team.

Samantha’s breakout year came when she represented England in the 2000Sydney Olympics in both the 200 meter sprint and the 4 x 100 meter relay. Prior to Sydney, she won two medals in the Olympic AAA trials: a silver medal for the 200 meter and a bronze for the 100 meter sprint.

As a proud member of the prestigious Birchfield Harriers runningclub in the UK, Samantha contributed to the club’s European Club Championship win in 1998. Samantha’s four gold medals that season also earned her the title of ‘Most Valuable Athlete’ and her team’s 4 x 100 meter relay record still stands today.

Since retiring from competition in 2004, Samantha has maintained her notable fitness as a certified personal trainer. She has trained prestigious athletes, major celebrities and she’s also particularly proud of her supportive program helping women return to peak fitness post-pregnancy.

Samantha is working with Herbalife to help unlock everyone’s potential to excel in sports and in life. Training and studying under the guidance of world-class coaches has cultivated her fitness and sporting expertise. She is also a well-regarded track coach at a division one University in California.
